Matt vs gloss kitchen doors
Matt doors have a soft, low-sheen finish that looks calm and modern. They hide fingerprints, smudges and small marks better than gloss, which makes them a practical choice for busy family kitchens and handleless designs where doors are pushed open by hand.
Gloss doors reflect light, so they can make a small or dark kitchen feel brighter and bigger. They are also quick to wipe clean, but show fingerprints more easily.
- Choose matt for a contemporary look, a busy kitchen or a handleless design
- Choose gloss for a small, north-facing or dark kitchen that needs more light. See our high gloss kitchen doors
Choosing a matt colour
- White and Light Grey: timeless and bright, easy to pair with any worktop, and the safest choice if you plan to sell
- Cashmere: a warm neutral that softens a white kitchen and works well with oak or stone-effect worktops
- Anthracite, Indigo and Blue: dark statement colours. Pair them with light worktops and brass or black handles, or use them on an island only
- Agave Green and Aquamarine: on-trend nature-inspired tones that suit shaker-style handles and wooden accents

Hinge drilling, panels and a complete finish
Order your doors drilled for hinges, with left-, right- or top-hung positions to match your cabinets. Vivo doors can be drilled for £4 a door. For a finished look, add matching end panels, plinths and cornice in the same matt colour.

Matt kitchen doors FAQs
Are matt kitchen doors hard to keep clean?
No. Matt kitchen doors hide fingerprints and smudges better than gloss. Wipe them with a soft damp cloth and warm soapy water, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and polish, which can leave shiny patches.
How much do matt kitchen doors cost?
Doorfinder matt kitchen doors start from £4.64 a door in the Ora Supermatt range and from £13.33 in the Vivo Matt range. The price depends on size, and delivery to UK mainland addresses is free.
What colours do matt kitchen doors come in?
Our matt doors come in 10 colours: White, Light Grey, Cashmere, Blue, Aquamarine and Agave Green (Ora Supermatt), plus White, Light Grey, Anthracite and Indigo (Vivo Matt).
Is matt or gloss better for a kitchen?
Matt suits busy family kitchens and handleless designs because it hides fingerprints and marks. Gloss reflects light, so it suits small or dark kitchens. Both are easy to clean.
Will matt doors fit my existing kitchen units?
Yes. Our matt doors fit IKEA, Howdens, B&Q, Wickes, Magnet and Benchmarx units, and made-to-measure sizes are available for older or non-standard kitchens.
How long does delivery take?
Standard-size Ora Supermatt doors arrive in 3–5 working days and Vivo Matt in 4–5 working days. Made-to-measure doors take 10–12 working days.
Can I get a sample of a matt colour?
Yes. Order a free colour sample to check the shade in your kitchen before you buy.
