How to measure your kitchen cupboard doors
Your step-by-step guide to a perfect fit
Find Your Perfect Fit with Doorfinder
Don’t worry—you don’t need to be a professional joiner to get this right. Measuring up for your new Doorfinder kitchen doors is actually much simpler than it looks. We have designed our process to be as hassle-free as possible, ensuring you get made-to-measure results without the stress.
With just 10 minutes and a standard tape measure, you can provide all the details we need to craft your custom doors. Grab yourself a cup of tea, and let’s get started.
1. Gather your tools
Prepare a tape measure, pen, and paper to record your dimensions.
2. Measure the height
Measure the back of the door from the top edge to the bottom edge. Always measure the back, as bevels or designs on the front can affect accuracy.
3. Measure the width
Measure the back of the door horizontally from the left edge to the right edge.
4. Measure hinge positions
Measure from the top of the door down to the centre of the top hinge hole. Then, measure from the bottom of the door up to the centre of the bottom hinge hole.
Note whether the door is left or right-hanging. Illustrations below show a left-hanging door.

Measure Door Height
Measure from top to bottom. Always measure the back of the door to ensure accuracy, as the front details or bevels can skew the size. Record the exact height in millimetres.

Measure Door Width
Measure from side to side. Place your tape measure across the flat back surface of the door. Measure from the left edge to the right edge and record the width.

Top Hinge Position
Measure from the top down. Measure from the very top edge of the door down to the centre of the top hinge hole. This ensures your new door will align perfectly with your existing cabinet.

Bottom Hinge Position
Measure from the bottom up. Measure from the very bottom edge of the door up to the centre of the bottom hinge hole. Note if your door is left or right hanging based on which way it opens.
